Episode 46 – Olivia Janssen
Olivia, the best part of Homage is getting to know folks like yourself (in a relatively short period of time) and feeling like you’ve known them forever. When we met a few months ago, it shocked me just how polished you were at such a young age. Listening to you speak about your career and how you’ve progressed through the ranks is quite an accomplishment. It made me happy…as I told you, you reminded me of Zinka (8 years ago when she started at DSM). There’s a level of polish and acumen that you don’t see often with young folks professionally. Truly outstanding.
Personally, I’ve loved hearing about your journey through motherhood and navigating the challenges that come with being a working mom. Jack is one lucky kid to have you as a mom. One of the main reasons we started DSM was to have a better work/life balance (to some it’s a naive concept with regards to the hustle culture we live in) but it’s afforded me, personally so many opportunities that I cherish to coach sports and be present in my kids lives. I am thankful for that and now that I’m 48, I value the lessons my dad taught me as a kid (and I didn’t appreciate that much).
Excited to watch your career grow and transform in this next chapter. As you’ve been working with our team, it’s been such a pleasure to witness your passion for sharing ideas…and your creativity is off the charts. To those who think in linear terms (ME), the outside-the-box vibe in problem-solving is just awesome. There’s a great deal you have to offer and this is just the beginning. Olivia, this Homage is yours and I am grateful and proud to call you a friend now. It’s awesome when you meet people who appreciate the relationship and reciprocate in kind. Thank you for all the conversations we’ve shared…and really looking forward to those still to be had. Don’t change who you are…it’s pretty fantastic as is.
