Episode 45 – Korbi Johnston
Korbi, Korbi, Korbi…I honestly can say this, I can’t believe that I’ve only known you for like 6 months. It’s nuts. Seriously though…from the first time you were cc’d on an email and I starting doing some research on who you were and what you were about, I cannot say that I’m the least bit surprised at what an absolute genuine, caring and awesome person that you are. For those lucky enough to see this Homage and to hear Korbi’s story…LOOK. HER. UP. You’re strength and courage to tell your story to others to show people that it’s not about getting knocked down, but how you respond to adversity in your life. Who you are. What you’ve accomplished (and continue to just crush goal after goal). How you respect others. You’re truly the “entire package” of what a professional is and I am proud to be publishing this Homage just for you.
As we’ve gotten to know each other over the past 6 months (AND STILL HAVEN’T MET IN PERSON) the one clear thing that stands out to me is your character. You’re a straight shooter. Even in the toughest moments…and there have been a few, you handled to moment with class and dignity. This is the ownership that you take with your relationships. It’s refreshing. There’s not many that I’ve met in my life that do this to the level you do. It’s a skill that makes people want to be in your sphere. Those who work with you know that you’re giving your all to support the task…but they also feel “seen”. To me, that is what makes Korbi Johnston unique. In a short time, you have been a blessing to know and to collaborate with. I appreciate that most about you. PlanITROI is extremely lucky to have you as their Chief Growth Officer.
So in this Homage…those will see a woman who has dealt with trials and tribulations in her life. We’re going to attach the URL for the video that I first saw all those months ago when we first met that had me floored. You’ll get an idea of why I am so impressed with the woman you’re seeing on this video today. There’s a no nonsense, hard-charging element to you Korbi that showcases your leadership and passion for what you do. That’s immense. What I’ve come to enjoy about our relationship is that you pair that with a slow, steady demeanor that allows folks to be open and honest with their opinions and allows for meaningful dialogue…even if there’s disagreement. It’s a beautiful balance and my hope is that you understand just how much we (the folks you interact with) appreciate it.
In closing, Korbi I would like to say thank you. Even though we haven’t known each other for a long time…I am looking forward to working together in your new role and know that there’s so many awesome things ahead for you as you put your fingerprints on this company. I am thankful for your passion, your energy and your humanity. There’s something to be said for these elements that your story has helped hone. I am grateful for the opportunities each week to learn from you and know that this story is just beginning. You are awesome inside and out, my friend.
