Sir…it’s rare for me to run into someone who has almost as much boundless energy as I do. Welcome to the boundless energy club. You’re a dedicated leader and nexus of the mission of Christian Health. The people of the organization are a direct reflection of that. The growth of the organization is a direct reflection of that. Those in the Christian Health community are a direct reflection of that. You are the heartbeat of that campus of this Homage is yours.
I have known Doug for at least 15 years. There’s not a more astute scholar and gentleman. The passion you showcase in your relationship is a testament to who you are as a human being. Since I’ve known you…a trademark of you is putting others first as a great leader should. Purely as your friend, you have a knack for making others feel special. I try to be very in tune when I meet with folks and one of your amazing gifts is your emotional intelligence. You understand people and how to put them at the center of the universe through your interactions.
To know Doug Struyk is to know The Vista project and the amount of blood, sweat, and tears that it took to make a reality for over 20 years is a book…in and of itself in terms of some folks ’ careers. Christian Health today as you see it (not just on campus…but expansion through northern NJ) is a textbook is awesome leadership as well as stewardship. Doug is one of those guys in my life when I have a tough day at DSM and look outwardly at some of our clients…you just have to stop and say to yourself, “Look what Doug’s done and continues to do and frankly it looks effortless”. He cares so much about Christian Health, its residents, its employees…its community. That is Doug Struyk in a nutshell – passion and energy.
In closing, I would be remiss if I didn’t say that everyone watching needs to keep their eyes on Christian Health. We get to interact with their team every day so we feel the energy. Doug is a leader of men and women. Sir, you have provided a wonderful example for other leaders like myself on what and how to emulate someone in leadership. You’re a special cat, my friend. I am honored to know you. I am honored to call you a friend.
